Who we are
Our psychotherapists Richard, Judith and James bring 50 years of combined clinical experience, offering thoughtful, confidential therapy for people who want to understand more deeply what is happening in their lives.
At the heart of psychotherapy is a real relationship: a confidential space with another person in which difficult feelings and patterns of behaviour can gradually be understood.
Do you feel like this?
As life becomes more complicated, ways of coping that once helped us can begin to stop working. Anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties or experiences from the past may start to feel harder to manage alone.
Although everyone’s circumstances are different, people often come to us for help with four broad areas of difficulty:
Anxiety, panic and feeling overwhelmed
When your mind will not settle, ordinary demands can begin to feel unmanageable.
Depression, low mood and feeling stuck
Sometimes it is difficult to explain why life has lost its energy or meaning.
Relationships, attachment and separation
Therapy can help when a relationship is in difficulty, a breakup feels unbearable, or the same painful patterns seem to repeat themselves.
Trauma and the continuing effects of the past
Earlier experiences, including childhood experiences, can continue to shape how we feel, relate to others and understand ourselves.

We promise that from the moment you contact us, we will do our best to help you find the right psychotherapist. That may be someone within Southbank Counselling, or it may be another therapist, practice or specialist service that we know and can recommend.
